The 3rd China Conference on Environment and Health (CCEH 2021) Ends Successfully

   

 

To strengthen the academic exchange and promote the development in the field of environmental health, the 3rd China Conference on Environment and Health (CCEH 2021) was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on October 15-16, 2021. The conference was sponsored by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA), and organized by the Environmental Health Branch of CPMA, National Institute of Environmental Health of China CDC, and Sichuan CDC. The theme was “A Healthy Environment for a Better Future”.

 

CCEH 2021 was comprised of the plenary and 15 parallel sessions, and more than 180 domestic senior professors and researchers from more than 100 units were invited for academic presentations. The conference put forward the anti-microbial resistance (AMR) issue and one health approach to fight AMR and concluded the effectiveness and challenges of air quality improvement in China. During the conference, the latest research progresses in environment and health were exchanged, and recommendations were discussed for revision of air quality standards based on health risks in the context of “Peak Carbon Emission and Carbon Neutrality”.

Plenary Session on October 15, 2021 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province

 


On the morning of October 15, Mrs. Xia Liu, Vice Secretary-General of CPMA, hosted the opening ceremony. Prof. Weizhong Yang (Vice President of CPMA), Mr. Linghe Zen (Director of Bureau of Disease Prevention and Control of Health Commission of Sichuan Province), and Mr. Gang Cui (Inspector of Bureau of Disease Prevention and Control, National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China) were invited to deliver welcome speeches. Profs. Junshi Chen and Kebin He, members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave invited talks on “Fight AMR Based on the Concept of One Health” and “Environment and Health: Effectiveness and Challenges of Air Quality Improvement in China”, respectively.

Keynote speakers in the Plenary Session I on October 15, 2021 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province

In addition, 10 other senior professors and researchers made keynote speeches in the plenary session, including Mr. Yongcai Ji (Deputy Chief of Environmental Health Division, Bureau of Disease Prevention and Control, National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China), Prof. Panmao Zhai (Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences), Prof. Yuxin Zheng (Qingdao University), Dr. Anuradha Narayan (Chief of Child Health and Development Section, UNICEF Office for China), Prof. Jia Cao (Army Military Medical University), Prof. Jianying Hu (Peking University), Prof. Zhibin Hu (Nanjing Medical University), Prof. Guowang Xu (Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Prof. Weidong Qu (Fudan University), and Prof. Dongqun Xu (National Institute of Environmental Health, China CDC). Chairman and vice chairmen of the Environmental Health Branch of CPMA hosted this session.

Keynote speakers in the Plenary Session II on October 15, 2021 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province


On October 16, 15 parallel sessions and young scholars’ forum continued. CCEH 2021 attracted nearly 1,000 attendees. During this conference, attendees from universities, research institutions and CDCs gathered together to discuss the new solution to reduce environmental pollution exposure, and promote public health using new methods, new technologies, new advances, and new practices, under the goals of carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality. The epidemic prevention and control requirements of Chengdu City and Sichuan Province were strictly implemented during the conference. The detailed work plans for epidemic prevention and control were formulated in detail, and nucleic acid tests as well as health protection equipment were offered for free. All the abovementioned measures were proposed to ensure effective health monitoring and personal health protection.
